Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice
With the goal of serving our clients with the greatest degree of professionalism, care, respect and integrity, all Principals and Associates of Key Stone Reiki abide by the following Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
Key Stone Reiki Code of Ethics
January 30, 2010
1) I actively practice the Reiki Precepts set forth by Mikao Usui:
Today,
feel no anger,
have no worries,
show gratitude,
be diligent in all undertakings,
treat others with kindness.
2) I respect and honor my relationship to Reiki energy, recognizing that I am part of a process that is much greater than myself. I recognize that Reiki healing is about service to others, always being mindful that it is Reiki energy, at the discretion and direction of the recipient, and not I, that does the healing.
3) I respect the inherent dignity of clients, students, other practitioners and people from all walks of life. I treat others with integrity and equality regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or national origin.
4) I acknowledge and respect other Reiki healing lineages, and I refrain from criticizing, slandering or otherwise denigrating those lineages and their practitioners.
5) I do not diagnose, prescribe or provide any other service, procedure or therapy which requires a license to practice any branch of medicine or any other profession unless I am expressly licensed to do so.
6) I do not take unfair advantage of professional relationships or exploit others to further my personal, religious, political, or business interests.
7) I respect the sexual dignity of students and clients. I will not engage in unpermitted touching of students or clients. Under no circumstances will I engage in sexual activities with or sexual harassment of students or clients. Sexual harassment includes sexual advances, sexual solicitation, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
8) I refrain at all times from abusing alcohol and drugs. Prior to and during treatment of another person I abstain from using alcohol or any substance, prescription or otherwise, that may impair my judgment and/or professional conduct.
9) I respect the confidentiality of all information obtained from a student or client. I respect the right to privacy of each student or client. I will not solicit private information from students or clients unless it is essential to providing training or services. Once private information is shared with me, standards of confidentiality automatically apply. I may disclose confidential information when appropriate only with valid consent from a student or client or a person legally authorized to consent on behalf of a client.
10) I practice honesty in advertising, promoting my services ethically and in good taste. I represent my skills, experience and training honestly and realistically. I make honest and realistic statements regarding the potential benefits of Reiki healing treatments, and to the extent possible, shall base any statements I make about Reiki healing upon reliable information, experience and current research.
11) I actively participate in educating the public regarding the actual benefits of Reiki healing treatments.
12) I respect a client’s right to choose his or her own form of treatment and path of healing.
13) As a master/teacher, I honor a student’s right to choose a path or lineage of instruction in Reiki healing.
14) If my own beliefs or prevailing circumstances should interfere with my ability to provide treatment or training to any client or student consistent with these rights, I will refer the client or student to another practitioner.
At all times, KSR affiliates shall endeavor to serve the healing needs of their clients and provide the highest quality services possible.
KEY STONE REIKI STANDARDS OF PRACTICE

2) Affiliates will provide Reiki healing treatments in a sequence consistent with
the basic Reiki healing treatment form taught in the KSR lineage and as published
on the KSR website. Other treatment systems (such as massage, homeopathy, counseling,
or use of crystals) will not be part of their hands-
3) Affiliates will provide Reiki healing treatments while the practitioner and the client are properly attired, and in a clean, safe and comfortable environment except where prevented by circumstances or conditions such as treatment in medical venues or emergency situations.
4) Affiliates will provide Reiki healing treatments only after the client has been informed of the sequence, benefits and probable outcomes of treatment, and has given his or her permission to proceed. If no such person is available, the practitioner shall proceed according to his or her best clinical judgment.

A list of Reiki healing levels of instruction, with an accompanying outline of essential class content and competencies, as established by the Reiki Masters who are Principals of KSR, will be distributed to and regularly reviewed for comment by all KSR teaching masters. All KSR teaching masters will agree to and remain in alignment with this basic teaching format during their tenure with KSR. This information will be available to the public on the KSR website. Specific class content may vary according to the style and experience of each teaching master.
8) When Reiki healing is given or taught to youth or children under the age of 12 a parent or advocate must be present.
9) A fair, honest and equitable exchange will be negotiated by Affiliates for the provision of any KSR services. The general fee schedule for Reiki healing services for the Pittsburgh PA area will be set by Pittsburgh KSR Principals on a yearly basis. Affiliates have the right to negotiate discounts in these fees based on client need and circumstances.
10) All appropriate Reiki Certificates, Professional Qualifications, KSR Codes of Ethics and Standards of Practice must be available for inspection at any Affiliate’s regular place of practice.
